Be prepared Pt1

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Ephesians 6:12

The Word told/tells us to be prepared for the battles that would face us, as above we see the battlefield would not be focused in the Physical realm but would be a Spiritual climax. If we miss the point that we shouldn’t be wrestling with the flesh then we limit ourselves and play into the hands of the Wicked one. One of the biggest tactics he uses is to make people believe he isn’t there. For most he has accomplished this task as many have no idea of the Spiritual world or Spiritual sight. Paul told Timothy to fight the good fight of faith but many are failing (1 Timothy  6:12). Many may ask, how do I prepare myself? To be prepared for something we must plan, in this scenario the plan has been laid out for us already and we only have to act on the blueprints we have been given…

Wherefore take unto you the whole Armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand

(Ephesians 6:13)

The
Girdle of truth

Although I have a picture of what I class as a modern-day girdle I believe the same principle applies, a girdle was a ring-shaped object which acts as a support to clothing by holding it together tightly. When you think of a belt, one major component is the holes it contains. We have the ability to determine how tight we make it, just like the Truth we live out. We can decide to live a life of truth which is very tight or we can live loosely and live a life of sinful deeds and lies.

The girdle as stated above was something that supported the garments being worn, this is parallel to the truth holding us together in Christ, Jesus called himself the Truth and by having him as the support he holds us and takes us to his Father.

The Breastplate of righteousness

The breastplate is armour that soldiers use in order to protect from damage to the upper body and more significantly the heart. The heart is so unique in our battle for salvation. The heart is the battlefield for salvation and damnation. God wants our heart so the Wicked one tries to take it. He will do so by distracting you from God by creating things that entice you away from God.Where there is righteousness there is power! If you have this breastplate you can be protected and your heart is safe.

Walking in the Gospel of peace

I want to refer to several cases in the Bible to bring some understanding…God in the garden said to the woman he would make enmity between the seed of the woman and seed of the serpent, and that the heel and the head would be bruised. When we walk in the Gospel we push the Devil lower, we trample on his head by doing so. The next thing I will bring to you is this, Jesus when confronted by Peter told him that only his feet would need to be washed and no other part. He said we would be covered if we are washed. By having our feet covered and washed/purified we make ourselves powerful through God’s Spirit, to continue walking in the Will of God. Finally John in his epistles encouraged us to overcome the world. Let me bring a picture which will describe the final point I make…

If you have overcome the world then your feet are over everything that is in the world.

Leave comments and as always I will do my best to reply.
