A Response For Christians Hit Hard By Charlie Kirk’s Death

The news of Charlie Kirk’s assassination shook many believers. It reminded us of the fragility of life, the reality of persecution, and the weight of our calling as Christians in a hostile world.

When events like this happen, it’s natural to feel fear, confusion, and even discouragement. But God’s Word gives us direction and hope.

In this post, I want to share a few truths from Scripture and my own experiences that can help us process moments like this with faith instead of fear.

When I first heard the news, I’ll be honest—I felt fear. As someone who teaches the Bible publicly and defends the Christian faith in the realm of apologetics, I know that opposition is inevitable. Jesus warned His disciples:

“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.” – John 15:18

The more public you become with your faith, the more likely you are to face resistance. And sometimes that resistance is extreme. But one thing that helped me process this is realizing that everyone faces fear.

Even the people who seem the most courageous are not fearless—they’ve simply chosen to move forward in spite of it. Fear itself is not the problem. The question is: What will you do when fear comes knocking?

The only weapon that can defeat fear is faith. We cannot ignore fear, nor can we pretend it doesn’t exist. What gives us the strength to keep pressing forward is believing that God is sovereign, that He is just, and that His plan will prevail.

This is why I always go back to the Word. In seasons of confusion or loss, Scripture is the anchor. As Paul reminded the Corinthians:

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7

If I did not believe God was in control, that He had a plan even in suffering, then tragedy would leave me paralyzed. But because of Christ, I know the story does not end here.

Like Job, who clung to the hope of God’s justice even in his darkest trial, we must hold on to the certainty that God will vindicate His people and bring ultimate victory.

Without that faith, life truly becomes meaningless. But with it, we can rise above fear and live with confidence. Share on X

Events like this also remind us of a truth we often ignore: tomorrow is not promised. I’ve been guilty of putting things off—telling myself I’ll get to it tomorrow, next week, or even next year. But then a decade passes, and the thing God put on my heart is still left undone.

Scripture speaks directly to this:

“Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” – Proverbs 27:1

Charlie Kirk’s death is a sobering reminder that life can change in a moment. We don’t know what tomorrow holds—not even what the rest of today holds.

If God has called you to something, don’t wait. Obey Him now. Step forward in faith. Share on X

I’ll never forget the night I heard about Charlie Kirk. I had already uploaded a video for my apologetics channel and was planning to relax and spend the evening on something light.

Then the news broke—and everything shifted. Suddenly, the things I thought were important a few hours earlier didn’t matter anymore.

How often do we waste our days on distractions—TV shows, money, endless plans—only to realize in moments like this that they carry no eternal weight?

Don’t wait until tragedy forces you to reevaluate your priorities. Focus on what truly matters today—your walk with Christ, your obedience to His calling, and your impact on others.

Before this news reached me, my family had gathered for our usual Bible study and prayer. We were reading Genesis 6 about the days of Noah, when the earth was filled with corruption and evil.

Then, in prayer, we lifted up persecuted Christians around the world.

One brother in particular, Pastor Raymond Koh, came to mind—a man kidnapped years ago, whose family still does not know if he is alive or dead.

From that setting of prayer, I went online and learned about Charlie Kirk. And the weight hit me: I am not worthy.

Compared to believers suffering persecution around the world, compared to those who lay down their lives for the gospel, who am I?

Maybe you’ve felt that way too. But the truth is, none of us are worthy. And that is precisely the power of the gospel.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

It’s not our worthiness that qualifies us—it’s Christ. He alone is worthy. And it is His power that strengthens us to keep going, even when the world seems against us.

The death of Charlie Kirk is a reminder of the reality of spiritual warfare. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against powers of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). And yet, Paul assures us:

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.” – 2 Corinthians 10:4

Fear will come. Tragedy will strike. But in Christ, we are victorious. Share on X

The gospel saves, God reigns, and nothing can silence the truth.

If you are feeling shaken by these events, remember: our hope is not in this world. Our hope is in Christ, who has already overcome.

Stand firm in Him, put on the armor of God, and fight the good fight of faith. Share on X

May this truth steady your heart, remind you of Christ’s victory, and strengthen you to live faithfully no matter what tomorrow brings. God bless.
