Am I Too Old To Start? No! It’s Not Too Late For You To Be Great!

Do you ever question yourself and think things like…Am I Too Old To Start? You will see why you’re not!

One of the biggest problems people have today is believing the lie, they are too old.

Some will look at me and say, what does this young man know about being old?Israel Ikhinmwin Smiling

Many young people believe the lie they’re too young, I know because for a long time, I was one of them. This lie about age gets used on everyone. That’s how I know how you feel.

This is why I’m programming myself today, to never believe the lie I’m too old tomorrow. And by the end of this article, the three things I share with you will help you see, it’s not too late for you to be great.

“Am I Too Old To Start…A Business, Or Anything Else?”

I was speaking with a friend a few months ago. He’s older than me by a few years, and was seeking advice about his current situation.

He was feeling age start to get to him. He’s getting older, but life isn’t exactly going the way he planned. He finds himself working a job he doesn’t enjoy. He only stays to pay the bills and provide for his family.

He’s been searching for more, but hasn’t quite reached it yet. He’s tried different things over the years to free up his time, make more money, but nothing has stuck. At least not yet.

And for most in that situation, they start losing faith and telling themselves, they’re tool old now. And then, its slow, but they let go of the rope, and settle for working jobs they hate for the rest of their lives. They never feel fulfilled.

I could see where he was drifting, so I decided to speak about one thing with him that day.

Avoid Living With These Regrets When You’re Old

I started speaking to him about how he would regret it in 10-20 years if he gave up now. He thinks he’s feeling it now, but In 20 years, he will hate himself for not fighting through. He will feel even worse about himself then.

You don’t have to look far to find stories of people who are late in life who wish they went for it.

My goal was to fill him with the confidence he needed to succeed. We all have moments like this. And this feeling gets worse the more you allow it to exist. People start surrounding themselves with people who think the same way.

They ask, am I too old and they will now start telling them,

“yeah, you are too old, you can’t do it anymore, life is for the young”.

And then over time, you take full ownership of those lies, you believe it. It’s a ticking time bomb. Because like I said, one day in the future, it will explode, and bang! They will hate themselves.

It’s only a few months from that conversation, but he has a solid plan, feels much better, and he’s in a better position today.

And every day he continues, he gets closer and closer to his dreams.

Surround Yourself With Believers

The first thing you need to do to escape the lie that you’re too old is…surround yourself with Believers. People who believe in you, and empower you to be the best version of yourself. The version you’re supposed to be.

So in that conversation, it was someone else and I, who were the Believers for this friend. But how did I become a Believer?

I did the same thing with him, I do in every business article I release on this site.

How could I help this older man? By me helping him with what I know, I’m overcoming the lie that I’m too young. And it’s the second thing you must do.

You’re Never Too Old To Succeed

To show you the second thing you must do, I want to talk about someone you know from the Bible. This is such a powerful story, that opened my eyes to the lie you’re too old. But there’s so many examples in the Bible like this.

I’m sure you’ve heard of Samson in the Bible, the man that God blessed with supernatural strength, if he didn’t cut his hair.

We get excited today with characters like the hulk or Superman. But Samson, he was different.

We can all relate to Samson in many ways.

Samson had promise, he killed a thousand philistines one time, with a jawbone in his younger days.

Not a gun, a jawbone.

But he got distracted. He dropped the ball. And because he didn’t use his strength the right way, he ended up captured by his enemies, the Philistines.

They begin to mock him, and this is where I want to jump into Samson’s story, because it’s so much like ours today.

Look At Samson

Judges 16:23 says,

Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.

Imagine a man who had all the strength in the world, but ended up as a prisoner with his eyes plucked out. This is going from the heights, to the lowest of lows.

Then it says,

And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.

Like Samson, we look at our past errors and feel trapped. Someone with so much promise, who now is only entertainment for his enemies.

If you don’t stay with Believers, you fade into insecurity, and let life direct you, instead of directing life.

Then it says,

And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.

You Don’t Do It Alone

If you ever think am I too old, you must realise, you shouldn’t think about only you.

He asked someone to help him feel the pillars of the building, because he couldn’t see where they are. Samson didn’t settle for being the entertainer, even though he was older, strength was gone, and now he couldn’t see.

He kept making moves. Then the Bible says,

Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines [were] there; and [there were] upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.

Think about all the people mocking him. Three thousand people laughing at him, jeering him, and rejoicing. Imagine being in a comedy club that holds 3000 seats, but you’re the joke. That must feel terrible.

People in the system who know they’re in the system and don’t want to escape are losers. I spoke about what a loser is in my article on how to build a brand like a billionaire. They don’t know how to support you. So they jeer at you.

But Samson wasn’t focused on those people laughing at him. He knew that was noise. He knew, his bad decisions got him there. He also knew, his good decisions will take him out of there.

Look at what he did next.

And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

Winners Act Opposite To Losers

He did the opposite of what the losers expected because he is a winner.

He wants his strength back one last time, so he can show everybody who hears about his story, it’s not too late to be great. He did not let his current circumstances, decide what his future would be.

It says next,

And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.

To be great, even when you think it’s too late, you must grab life and do something with it, before it does something to you.

This was the last day of Samson’s life. It doesn’t get any later in life than this, but listen to what it says…

And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with [all his] might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that [were] therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than [they] which he slew in his life.

If you give everything you have, you can do more in your last day of life, than your whole life before it combined. Click To Tweet

This is one of the reasons, I create great things everyday. Because I know, if this is my last day on earth, with God with me, I have the power to create more results in one day, than my whole life combined.

A Personal Story On Why Age Doesn’t Matter

I want to share what happened with my book over10 years ago. Israel Ikhinmwin's Book - 50 Life Lessons Before 25 In this book I show you how to make the next year of your life, the best year of your life, and then repeat it.

I share 50 life changing success secrets everyone needs to know. I wrote this book over ten years ago though.

At the time it wasn’t a hard copy. I sold it for $13, not $25 + shipping and handling like today. Only one handful of people bought it.

I rarely talked about it, didn’t promote it. Speaking of handfuls, I only mentioned this book a handful of times over that ten-year period.

This book for all intents and purposes was dead and buried. At best, it was dying.

Then last year, I finished reading it again. I went through and made sure I was doing everything I say to do in the book. And I realised something I had forgotten, this book transforms lives in one year when you follow it.

I’ll make more money, and help more people with this book this year, than I did in the last ten years combined.
