Muslim Lady Lies About Quran Verse Because It Proves Christianity Treats Women Better

Conversations about faith often reveal deeper truths—especially when Scripture is involved.

In this exchange, a Muslim woman claimed that Islam treats women better than Christianity because, she said, Christian women aren’t allowed to divorce abusive husbands. But what unfolded next exposed the contradiction in her claim.

The young Muslim woman confidently stated that if she had an abusive husband, she could leave him under Islamic law—something she claimed Christianity forbids.

She said,

“If my husband was an abusive man, I wouldn’t be able to divorce him because in Christianity, you’re not allowed to divorce. So what am I going to do—live with an abusive husband for the rest of my life?”

Her argument seemed emotionally strong—but Biblically and factually weak.

I calmly asked how long she’d been in the livestream. She admitted she had just joined. Earlier, another Muslim man had cited Surah 4:34—a Quran verse often used to justify men striking their wives.

“Men are in charge of women… As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them, forsake them in bed, and [finally] strike them.” – Surah 4:34

The verse clearly allows husbands to beat their wives if they “fear disobedience.” Yet, the caller insisted that wasn’t the real meaning.

When asked how that verse supports her claim that Islam empowers women, she had no clear answer. Instead, she tried to steer the conversation back to Christianity.

I pressed gently but firmly:

“How can Islam claim to protect women if the Quran itself gives men permission to strike them?”

Her defense quickly turned emotional. She accused me of “gaslighting” and “manipulating” her, avoiding the substance of the question.

But the contradiction was clear:

  • She claimed Islam defends women from abuse.
  • Yet, the Quran permits husbands to strike their wives “for disobedience.”

In contrast, the Bible gives the opposite command:

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.” – Ephesians 5:25

Christianity doesn’t condone abuse—it commands love, sacrifice, and mutual respect. Share on X

The woman’s central argument was based on divorce. She said Christians can’t leave abusive marriages. But that’s not what Scripture teaches.

“Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery.” – Matthew 19:9

“But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases.” – 1 Corinthians 7:15

In other words, while God hates divorce, He also cares deeply for justice and protection.

One of the most overlooked truths is how the Bible elevates women’s worth. In Christ, both male and female share equal standing before God.

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” – Galatians 3:28

Jesus Himself treated women with dignity in a culture that often didn’t. He defended them (John 8:1–11), taught them (Luke 10:38–42), and appeared first to them after His resurrection (John 20:14–18).

No verse in the Bible commands husbands to strike their wives. Instead, it commands them to cherish, nourish, and honor them.

By the end of the conversation, the contradiction in the woman’s reasoning was plain. The Quran allows what the Bible condemns.

She wanted to argue that Islam gives women rights—but the Scripture she tried to avoid proved otherwise. The very verse her fellow Muslim had cited earlier (Surah 4:34) undermined her argument completely.

Abuse, manipulation, or violence has no place in the faith of Christ, who loved His bride—the Church—to the point of death.
